GVCF, or Grace Vineyard is a church of about 400 in Arlington, TX. Their need for a Web site is to provide up-to-date communications to members as well as an introduction to the church for newcomers.
The site takes advantage of a custom build around a branding the scheme that the church already had in place. The theme of the site can't be messed up, because it is held together by programming styles (CSS) into the layout. By doing so, ministry leaders have received administrative privileges to update just their area of the site using a content management system (or CMS)...see adopt a block, for example. And what's nice is the administrator of the site can give privileges to each ministry leader to post to or edit their area of ministry directly, or require a review process on the content before it goes live, depending on the administrator and their level of privilege.
In addition to the content management system, the system uses "me pages" to create profiles on individuals and assigns them to groups. These groups receive regular emails on upcoming events that post to the site. Members me pages are like facebook in that you can add friends and maintain some basic info on yourself.
The site also allows for sermon downloads, event registration and video playback. The site is designed to be a content receptacle that makes it easy for the church to keep the site current for search engines. We have it optimized for anyone looking for a "vineyard church arlington, tx" and "vineyard church dallas, tx" and many other key search phrases based on cities around the dallas / ft. worth metroplex.
Most of all the site is easy. There are about eight-to-twelve adminsitrators participating in keeping the site updated, and Epiphany Systems is also there to back them up with content support, should they need any help. You can visit Grace Vineyard online at gvcf.org. Incidently, check out their youth site: gracerevolution.org too!
